What’s on Caldey?
Priory Bay
The golden sands of Priory Bay transports you to different world, almost as if you could be stranded on a desert island!
Priory Bay is safe for swimming in calm weather conditions with broad views looking back across to Tenby and along the south Pembrokeshire coast.
Caldey Abbey
Caldey Abbey is a beautiful building, designed by Architect Coates-Carter as part of the Arts & Crafts movement of the early 1900s.
While Visitors cannot enter the Abbey, they are encouraged to join the Monks for a service in the Abbey Church, which is open to the public.
The Lighthouse
A visit to Caldey isn’t complete without a stroll up to the lighthouse to view the amazing views out over the Bristol channel. On a clear day you can see Lundy Island (27 miles south) and sometimes even Devon from this part of the island.
Caldey Lighthouse was constructed by Trinity House in 1829, it was the last gas powered lighthouse in the UK, switching to electricity in 1997.
