REPORTING A SAFEGUARDING CONCERN

Report a Concern

If Someone Is in Immediate Danger

If a child, young person or adult is at immediate risk of harm, contact the emergency services immediately by calling: 999

The safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults at risk are of paramount importance to Caldey Abbey and Caldey Island Estate Company.

If you have a safeguarding concern, or if someone has disclosed abuse, neglect or exploitation to you, please do not ignore it. Concerns should be reported as soon as possible.

All safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously, handled sensitively and responded to appropriately.

When to Report a Concern

You should report a concern if:

  • You believe a child or adult at risk may be experiencing abuse or neglect.

  • Someone tells you that they have been harmed or are afraid.

  • You witness behaviour that causes concern.

  • You are worried about the conduct of a member of staff, volunteer, resident or visitor.

  • You have concerns about the safety or wellbeing of another person.

  • You are unsure whether what you have seen or heard is a safeguarding issue.

If in doubt, seek advice. It is always better to raise a concern than remain silent.
